Downtown Gilbert is one of my favorite locations for family photos because there is so much variety packed into one area. You can go from clean, modern architecture to colorful murals, quiet walkways, greenery, and downtown streets—all within the same session.


This recent Downtown Gilbert family photography session is such a good example of how much variety this location can give you.


We moved through several different areas of Downtown Gilbert, creating a gallery that feels relaxed, colorful, modern, and full of personality.

A Modern Start in Downtown Gilbert



We began the session in one of the parking garage areas, where the open light, neutral concrete, and clean lines created a simple, modern backdrop.


I love using locations like this because nothing competes with the family in the photos. The neutral setting keeps the focus exactly where it should be—on the people, their connection, and their personalities.


We were able to capture individual portraits of the kids, photos of Mom and Dad together, and plenty of family combinations before moving on to the rest of Downtown Gilbert.

Exploring Downtown Gilbert for Family Photos



One of the best things about a Downtown Gilbert family photo session is how quickly the scenery changes.


As we walked through downtown, we found colorful walls, murals, interesting architecture, greenery, and classic Downtown Gilbert streets that gave us completely different looks without ever having to get back in the car.


That variety makes Downtown Gilbert such a fun option for families who want something a little more urban and playful than a traditional desert setting.

A Great Location for Families With Older Kids



Downtown Gilbert is especially fun for families with older kids because the environment feels a little less formal than a traditional family photo location.


We can move around, change backgrounds, photograph each child individually, and create images that show their personalities without every photo feeling overly posed.


This session included plenty of those individual moments along with parent-and-child photos, sibling photos, couple portraits, and images of the entire family together.


The result is a gallery that tells much more of their story than one single family portrait ever could.
