What Is a Mini Session?



A mini session is a shorter photography session offered on select dates and at predetermined locations.


Because everything is already planned, mini sessions are designed to be quick and easy. You choose an available time, arrive at the location, and we get right to work creating beautiful updated photos of your family.


They’re especially popular during the fall when families are looking for updated portraits for holiday cards, gifts, and yearly family photos.


For busy families, that simplicity can be a huge plus.

A Mini Session Might Be Perfect for You If...



You mainly want a handful of beautiful updated photos.


Maybe you need a great family portrait for your Christmas card. Maybe it has been a year since your last family photos and you simply want to document how much the kids have grown.


If you don’t need a huge gallery or lots of different combinations, a mini session can be the perfect fit.


Minis are also great for families who like the idea of getting in, getting the photos, and getting on with their day.


And sometimes that's exactly what everyone wants!

Choose a Full Session If You Want More Variety



A full family photography session gives us more time to slow down.


Instead of focusing primarily on getting those must-have family portraits within a shorter window, we have time to create a much larger variety of photographs.


That can include the entire family, each parent with the kids, siblings together, Mom and Dad together, individual portraits, and plenty of candid moments in between.


There’s also more time to move around the location and use different backgrounds.


If you want your final gallery to tell more of a story rather than simply update your family portrait, a full session is probably the better fit.

Some kids can walk into a session and immediately turn on the smiles.

If you have children who need a little more time to get comfortable or you simply know your family does better without feeling rushed, the extra breathing room of a full session may be worth it.

Full Sessions Give Us More Time for the In-Between Moments



Some of my favorite family photographs aren't the ones where everyone is standing perfectly and smiling at the camera.


They're the moments between those photographs.


Someone makes their sibling laugh.


A child grabs Mom's hand.


Dad whispers something that makes everyone crack up.


The kids start playing.


Those moments can happen during any photography session, but a full session naturally gives us more time to let them unfold.


If candid family photography and connection are especially important to you, that extra time can make a difference.
