When most people picture outdoor family photos in Arizona, they imagine towering saguaros, rocky mountains, and desert landscapes. But tucked throughout the Queen Creek area are beautiful pockets of greenery that offer a completely different setting for family photography.

This family session is the perfect example.

With tall grass, beautiful trees, and soft golden-hour light, this Queen Creek location created a peaceful backdrop for capturing a family of six and their newest little addition.

Welcoming a New Baby with Family Photos

Bringing a new baby into the family is such a special season, especially when there are older siblings who are just as excited about the newest member of the family.

For this session, we captured everything from traditional family portraits to those quieter, unscripted moments that make family photography so meaningful.

The whole family cuddled together on a blanket beneath the trees, giving us a beautiful mix of everyone smiling at the camera and genuine moments of connection.

Some of my favorite images from this session are the simplest ones: Dad holding his newborn daughter while her siblings gather around, Mom snuggling her baby close, and the kids sharing their own sweet moments with their new baby sister.

These are the little details that tell the story of what life looks like right now.

The Sweetest Sibling Photos

One of my favorite parts of photographing families with a new baby is capturing the relationship between siblings.

During this session, we made sure each of the older children had their own time in front of the camera, too.

From playful individual portraits in the grass to the sweetest images of the older siblings holding and kissing their baby sister, there was no shortage of moments worth remembering.

We also captured photos of all four children together, creating portraits that their parents will be able to look back on for years to come.

As a Queen Creek family photographer, I love giving families a gallery that includes more than just the traditional group portrait. Individual photos, sibling combinations, and natural interactions help tell a much more complete story.

A Different Side of Arizona Family Photography

One of the things I love about photographing families in Queen Creek, AZ, is the variety of scenery available.

Arizona might be known for its desert landscapes, but beautiful green spaces can create an entirely different look.

This location featured tall grass, mature trees, and gorgeous natural light filtering through the branches as the sun began to set.

The greenery paired beautifully with the family's coordinated neutral outfits, soft pink dress, and earthy brown tones. The result was a collection of warm, timeless family portraits that felt natural and relaxed.

For families who love the look of lush outdoor photography but still want to stay close to home, Queen Creek has some beautiful options.

Why Golden Hour Is Perfect for Outdoor Family Photos

Golden hour, the period shortly before sunset, is one of my favorite times to schedule outdoor family photography sessions.

The sunlight becomes softer and warmer, creating beautiful natural tones without the harsh shadows that come with photographing in the middle of the day.

For this particular session, the setting sun filtered through the trees and created a gorgeous glow behind the family.

It was especially beautiful for the walking portraits, where the family could simply hold hands and enjoy being together while I captured the moment.

And with young children, those natural, movement-filled photos are often some of the best!

Family Photography That Feels Like You

Not every family photo needs everyone looking directly at the camera.

Of course, I always make sure we capture those classic smiling portraits. But I also love photographing the little moments in between.

The way your kids laugh together. The way your husband looks at your new baby. The tiny hands, sweet expressions, and spontaneous hugs.

Those are often the photographs that become the most meaningful as the years pass.

My goal at Top Knot Photography is to create a relaxed experience where your family can feel comfortable being yourselves while we capture beautiful images you'll treasure long after this season has passed.
